SINGLE PROBE SENSORS FOR DOUBLE SHEET DETECTION
Our Single Probe Sensors provide solutions where dual probes can not. In order to detect doubles, it is necessary to penetrate the depths of the metal sheet or blank. Many sensing techniques are surface-sensitive and are unable to penetrate to any distance. Our single probe sensors use permanent magnetic flux to penetrate through the metal. The magnetic flux is shunted proportionally to the metal thickness when the probe face touches the metal blank. As the thickness increases, more flux is shunted across the magnetic poles. Our single probe sensors are able to detect a double from one side of the sheet; however, the probe must come in contact with the metal, what we refer to as our contact method.
DUAL PROBE SENSORS FOR DOUBLE SHEET DETECTION
Our Dual Probe Sensors have a transmitter and a receiver that face each other. Prime's dual probe sensors function as either the transmitter or the receiver. Metal passing between the two probes impedes the signal proportionally to the metal thickness. Our dual probe sensors do not come in contact with the metal being tested, what we refer to as our non-contact method.
OUR COLOR SYSTEM
Prime encapsulates its probe sensors with colored epoxy for your convenience. The colors indicate the probe's preferred metal type.
Black work best with Ferrous Metals (Steel, Tinplate)
Blue works best with Non-Ferrous Metals (Aluminum)
Green works best with Thin, Non-Ferrous Metals (aluminum foils, non-magnetic stainless or copper)
