Model
P70CB
Dual
Probe For Ferrous Metal
PRIME
has
the solution for dependable double sheet
and blank probes used in tough metal
forming processes. We developed the
Model P70CB. The Model P70CB is among
a family of P70 probes. Additional letters
or numbers indicate the type and style
of probe body.
The
Model P70CB Probe is 51 mm high by 25
mm in diameter. The body of the probe
is machined steel with nickel plate
and hard chrome. Typical mounting is
with a split collar. It is sealed to
IP67 or NEMA 6P specifications with
a micro style connector. It has superior
resistance to moisture and solvents
when mated with Prime's Model CBL100
or CBL101
molded cable/connector. All were designed
to provide a high degree of reliability
to last through many years of service.
The Model P70CB Probe is used with all
early Prime detectors, Models DS33,
DS35, DS37, DS38, and new Models DS150,
DS1520, DS1522,
Models
SD200, SD202 and SD203 were designed
to use the Model
P15CB with Ferrous and Non-ferrous.
The Model P70CB is used best to detect
ferrous metal. under 1 mm thick (It
will also work with non-ferrous metal.
However our best probes for non-ferrous
(less than 1 mm) metal is with Primes'
P15 family and P1000 family for
thick (greater than 1 mm)
ferrous.
Transmitter
to receiver separation is 25 mm or less.
Response time is a function of the control
and the probes. Prime controls change
signal depending on conditions. This
impacts response time. Total system
response time range is 2 to 10 mS.
The
electromagnetic field of the P70CB is
approximately 25 mm wide at the transmitter
origin. It spreads out at a rate of
40 degrees for 18 mm then rapidly decreases
to barely detectable at 30 mm range.
It
is ideal for detecting very thin or
small items less than 1 mm thick or
attached items 12 mm wider or or greater.
For example it detects tinplate sheets
at rates exceeding 800 per minute. The
ideal separation for small items is
16 mm. This decreases the field of view
to less than 20 mm.
Two
different cable types are used to adapt
the P70CB to early model controls. Early
control designs used the internal element
in the probe to dictate signal characteristics.
This technology requires the three conductors
found in the
Model CBL100-3 and CBL100-6 (-3 ,
- 6 represents cable length, in meters).
This
early design technology was and is susceptible
to sensitivity drift, limits the maximum
cable length as well as other problems.
Models CBL100-3 and CBL100-6 are used
when applying the P70CB to a DS33, DS35,
DS37 or DS38. Both have three conduct
cable with shield. The maximum cable
distance of a Model CBL100 is limited
to 50 feet or 15 meters when used with
Models DS33 through DS38.
Primes'
newest controls do not use the probe
element to control signal characteristics.
The controls microprocessor determines
the best signal based on conditons that
are taught to the control. This improvement
locks in sensitivity, increases maximum
cable length to over fifty meters and
allows the control to automatically
configure itself for infinite signal
characteristics. The new controls use
the the Model
CB101-3 and CBL101-6.
